NerdOps AI ("we", "us", or "our") operates nerdops.ai and the NerdOps AI mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our service.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us:

Account information: Email address, display name, and password (stored as a bcrypt hash — we never store plain-text passwords)
Chat messages: The questions and conversations you have with our AI assistant
Uploaded files and images: Files you choose to upload for analysis, stored in Azure Blob Storage
Payment information: Processed entirely by Stripe — we never store credit card numbers

We also collect limited technical data automatically:

Usage statistics (queries used, files uploaded)
General analytics via Google Analytics (page views, session duration, general location)
Error logs for debugging and service improvement

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and improve the NerdOps AI service
To process your chat messages through the Anthropic Claude API
To manage your account, subscription, and wallet credits
To send transactional emails (password resets, welcome emails)
To monitor usage against your plan limits
To detect and prevent abuse or fraud

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate NerdOps AI:

Anthropic Claude API — processes your chat messages to generate AI responses. Subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
Stripe — handles all payment processing. We never see or store your card details. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
Microsoft Azure — hosts our application and stores uploaded files. Subject to Microsoft's Privacy Policy.
Google Analytics — collects anonymous usage statistics. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

4. Data Retention

Free plan: Chat history is not retained between sessions
Starter plan: Chat history retained for 30 days
Pro plan: Chat history retained for 90 days
Team plan: Chat history retained for 180 days
Uploaded files: Retained for 30 days then automatically deleted
Account data: Retained until you delete your account

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

All data transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption
Passwords hashed using bcrypt with a cost factor of 12
Authentication via signed JWT tokens
Database hosted on Azure with SSL required for all connections
File storage in private Azure Blob Storage containers

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and associated data
Export your chat history (paid plans)
Opt out of Google Analytics via browser extensions

7. Children's Privacy

NerdOps AI is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

8. Cookies

We use only essential cookies required for authentication and session management. We use Google Analytics which may set cookies for analytics purposes. We do not use advertising cookies or sell your data to advertisers.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by posting a notice on nerdops.ai. Your continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
